What to expect at your Newborn Session!

Updated: Jan 31, 2019

Congratulations on your new little family member! I feel so blessed to be your newborn photographer. Thank you so much for allowing me to photograph your new precious miracle. As a mom I know how special these images will be for years to come. Here I have listed some things you will want to expect at your newborn session.

How to prepare baby

Plan on feeding baby 2-3 hours before the session and then again when you arrive at the studio. Please do your best to keep baby awake before the session. Try giving baby a bath, tickles, and playing. Do what you can to keep them awake so they are nice and sleepy at the session. This is very important and key to the success of many poses. Keeping baby awake will make for those wonderful sleepy, squishy photos!

Things you will want to know

  • The session will last a minimum of two hours. It takes time to get baby settled and posed.

  • The studio will be warm. I keep a space heater going to help keep baby warm and sleepy while they are undressed. You may want to wear layers or lighter clothing.

  • It is best if you wear neutral colored clothing. I have many beautiful wraps and neutral clothing (no patterns) will help the photos look their best and the focus on baby.

  • You do not need to bring any special clothing or props. You are welcome to do so if you would like but it is not necessary. I have many outfits and props to choose from!

  • Please bring diapers, food for baby, and a pacifier.

Getting those sweet shots with older siblings are so special! Be sure to prep you child on what will be happening! I will do sibling and family shots first. This allows for older siblings to take their photos and then focus on something else. It may be helpful for a family member to take the sibling(s) out while we focus on the new baby. We want the studio to be nice and quiet to help baby sleep. There is a space for family to sit and wifi is available.

I am so excited to be working with you! I love photographing newborns and I feel so honored to be your chosen photographer. Please contact me with any and all questions.
